A pale, whitish-pink axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is partially emerging head-first from a dark, arched cave opening within an aquatic habitat. The axolotl, positioned centrally, displays its head, dark eyes, prominent feathery external gills, and two front limbs resting on the substrate. Its rear body extends into the dark interior of the cave. The cave structure is an irregular rock formation covered extensively with green moss or algae, occupying the mid-ground and background. The bottom of the enclosure is covered with a uniform substrate of numerous small, spherical pellets, varying in color from light to dark brown. A small, yellow-green snail shell and other minute debris are visible on the substrate near the axolotl's head, to the right of the cave entrance. The water above the rock formation appears dark, with multiple suspended white particles illuminated by the visible light source. This scene is located in Berlin, Germany.
