Two Red-footed Tortoises (Chelonoidis carbonarius) are present in an outdoor, uncultivated area of Tinaquillo, Venezuela. Both tortoises exhibit dark, segmented carapaces with prominent yellow-orange central markings on each scute, and similar yellow-orange coloration on their heads and limbs. The tortoise on the left is positioned slightly forward, facing generally towards the viewer, while the tortoise on the right is adjacent to it, also facing generally forward with its head partially retracted. They are stationary on a mixed terrain of light-brown soil, small gravel, and sparse green ground cover consisting of weeds and grass. Scattered dry leaves are also visible. The scene is illuminated by natural daylight.
