A rectangular bas-relief sculpture, approximately 1
A rectangular bas-relief sculpture, approximately 1.5 meters wide by 1 meter high, is mounted centrally on a textured white exterior wall. Above the white wall section, a red brick wall with dark mortar lines is visible. The sculpture is rendered in a light grayish-beige material, possibly reconstituted stone, with certain elements highlighted in a dull gold finish. The relief depicts various objects associated with the textile industry. On the upper left, five vertical bobbins or spools of thread are shown, alongside two weaving shuttles. Below these, a knitted sweater featuring the letters "BHS" on its chest, a beanie hat, and a partial depiction of trousers are present. The central composition includes a large, gold-rimmed spinning wheel with radiating spokes, positioned above and partially overlapping a detailed spinning jenny, which also exhibits gold highlights. The right side features various abstract textures and patterns. In the bottom right, a circular medallion portrays a seated figure operating a loom within a defined architectural structure. Vertical text along the far-left edge of the sculpture reads "HANS JÖRG COLLING". This sculpture, titled "The Textile Industry", is located on St Nicholas Square, Colchester, United Kingdom, specifically on the exterior of a building formerly occupied by British Home Stores.
