The cavity, which is dark and appears to extend inward, measures approximately one-third of the image height. Its walls are lined with the dark, moist inner surface of the tree. The bottom of the cavity contains exposed, reddish-brown soil, from which two small green seedlings are growing: one with two round cotyledons and another fern-like plant. The tree trunk surrounding the cavity is extensively covered with dense, vibrant green moss, particularly along the left vertical edge of the frame and around the cavity's opening. Patches of lighter greyish-white lichen are visible on the drier, textured bark, primarily on the upper right side. Rooted in the mossy area above the cavity is a plant with narrow green leaves, accompanied by several dried, curled brown leaves. No human figures or man-made objects are present.
