The scene features two large, light-colored plaster cast sculptures displayed on dark grey plinths against a plain light grey wall. The prominent sculpture on the left is a seated female figure, identified as Athena, wearing a Corinthian helmet, a peplos, and sandals. To the far left of the frame, a dark brown wooden paneled wall or door is partially visible. To the far right, a portion of a large, gold-framed painting is seen. Overhead lighting casts shadows from the sculptures onto the wall.
