A large, mixed herd of approximately one hundred or more zebras and wildebeest is spread across the midground and background, actively grazing on the sparse, yellowish-brown and green patches of grass. Individual animals, identifiable by their distinct black and white stripes (zebras) or dark, bulky forms (wildebeest), have their heads lowered toward the ground. The terrain features gentle undulations, including a small, elevated grassy mound in the mid-distance where a concentration of animals is visible. In the far background, imposing, dry, greyish-brown mountains or large hills rise under a partially cloudy sky with scattered white and grey clouds.
