The anteater's shape was a recurring image in the artist's work, which was prompted by the artist's childhood memory of a pet anteater he had as a child. The pet died, and the artist mourned the animal until he painted the image of the anteater on a large, black field, which was meant to represent a large cemetery. This is an art installation, not a physical anteater. The artist is using the animal as a metaphor.
