An overhead photograph displays a section of an ancient mosaic floor, located within the archaeological site of Jaffa (Yafo), Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel. The mosaic is constructed from numerous irregularly shaped tesserae in muted shades of off-white, light grey, dark grey, beige, and faded reddish-pink. It features a complex design of curvilinear and geometric patterns, including wave-like motifs and segmented, semi-circular arrangements. Several thin, dry organic fragments, possibly twigs, are scattered across the mosaic surface. In the lower-left portion of the frame, a fair-skinned human right hand rests flat against the mosaic, fingers slightly spread. The hand is adorned with three rings: a silver-colored ring with an intricate, possibly organic design on the index finger, a simple silver-colored band on the middle finger, and a prominent, oval-shaped dark greenish-grey gemstone set in a decorative silver-colored bezel on the ring finger. A beaded bracelet, consisting of multiple rounded greyish-green beads, encircles the wrist, which is covered by a dark, possibly black, lace or mesh fabric sleeve. The mosaic shows signs of wear, with some tesserae missing, particularly along its visible edges where it transitions to a rough, greyish concrete or mortar base.
