A single adult rooster is depicted resting on barren, brown soil in Otolokpo, Nigeria. The bird's plumage is predominantly dark reddish-brown with black underparts and iridescent dark green-blue tail feathers. It possesses a prominent, bright red, serrated comb atop its head and large, red wattles beneath its beak. Its visible eye is yellow-orange. The rooster is positioned centrally, facing slightly right with its beak slightly open. The ground surrounding the rooster is covered with scattered dry brown leaves, small rocks, twigs, and detritus. A larger, light brown rock is visible in the upper background, partially obscured by leaves.
