A stratified rock cliff face, primarily light brown and grey in color with distinct horizontal layers, dominates the background. Approximately midway up the cliff and slightly right of center, an ovular recess or small cave opening is present. A large conifer tree, exhibiting dark brown, textured bark, lies diagonally across the left side of the frame, leaning against the lower portion of the cliff face. Several broken branches extend perpendicularly from the tree's main trunk. The ground at the base of the cliff and in the foreground consists of loose soil, assorted rock fragments, scattered fallen branches and twigs, and patches of green moss.
