A large Gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica) is centrally positioned, coiled and at rest, within an enclosure located in Mulhouse, France. The snake displays a complex dorsal pattern of geometric shapes in shades of light tan, dark brown, black, and beige, indicative of its camouflage. Its characteristic triangular head, featuring prominent nasal horns, is visible in the lower right portion of the image, resting near a dark-colored frame or barrier. The environment consists of dark, moist soil, scattered brown leaf litter, and various green plant life, including small ferns and moss. A dark, fibrous, amorphous object rests within the serpent's coiled body, atop some vegetation. The background contains additional green foliage and a fragment of a tree trunk. No other subjects or active interactions are observed.
