model of the second Franciscan Friary in Aalborg, Denmark

AalborgDenmark

model of the second Franciscan Friary in Aalborg, Denmark. The model is displayed behind glass, next to remnants of the original brick structure. The model, made of reddish-brown materials, depicts the layout of the friary, including the church, east wing (containing the vestry and library), and the proposed locations of the south and west wings. A text panel provides information about the friary's construction timeline (1300-1350 for the church and east wing, 15th-16th centuries for the other wings) and its eventual closure in 1530. A diagram on the right side of the model shows the layout of the church, including the chancel (Kor), nave (Skib), and the location of the Aalborg museum cellar. The image also shows the locations of the Algade, Mølledam, Møllegade, Trapperum (stairwell) and kælder (cellar). The street Roldgyde was laid out after the monastery closed down.
