A patinated bronze war memorial is centered against a rough-hewn granite pedestal in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. The monument features two primary figures. On the left, a seated male figure, bare-chested and partially draped, leans back with his left hand resting on a shield. A helmet lies beside the shield. His right arm is extended horizontally to the right. Facing him, on an elevated ledge to the right, a recumbent female figure lies horizontally, draped in garments. Her left hand is touched by the male figure's extended right arm. Both bronze figures display significant teal and green patination. The multi-tiered pedestal, constructed from speckled reddish-brown and grey granite blocks, shows weathering and some organic growth. A tapering granite obelisk rises directly behind the pedestal. Partially visible on the lowest stone slab in front of the monument is an inscription in French, reading "A NOS VOLONTAIRES DES GUERRES 1914-1918 1940". The scene is set under an overcast sky, with bare deciduous trees visible in the distant background.
