To the right of the archway, two fluted marble columns with ornate Corinthian-style capitals provide structural support. The entire structure is composed of various light-colored marbles, including white and grey streaked varieties for the upper arches. Strong, natural light illuminates the scene, enhancing the reflectivity of the gold mosaic tesserae.
