A rosette of green leaves with serrated edges and a prominent central vein is surrounded by dark, damp soil and other smaller plants. The leaves have a red or pink tint along the edges and some are dotted with water droplets. The plant's stem emerges from the center of the rosette. Smaller green grasses and various other seedlings grow nearby in the rich soil.
