The image shows a mosaic floor depicting a still life composition. At the center is a shield-like emblem formed by branches of ivy. Inside the emblem are two fish swimming horizontally. Below the fish is a pot or basket overflowing with colorful mosaic tesserae, rendered in shades of brown, yellow, and orange. Crossing the pot are two crossed rods, one of which has a hook dangling from it, suggesting a fishing theme. The mosaic is set into a marble floor, with a rounded edge of marble visible at the top and sides of the image. The mosaic is in good condition with some minor signs of wear. This mosaic is located in the archaeological site of Pompeii, near Naples, Italy. Specifically, it is found in the House of the Faun, one of the largest and most elaborate private residences in Pompeii. This particular mosaic is located in the peristyle (courtyard) of the house.
