The scene depicts an underwater environment, an enclosed aquatic exhibit, located within the city of Saint-Mandé, France. Two manatees are present. The primary subject, a grey-skinned manatee, occupies the upper left foreground, with its snout and the anterior portion of its body partially visible. Its skin exhibits a textured appearance. A second, smaller manatee is positioned in the mid-ground, slightly to the right of the first, fully visible, swimming to the right with its body, flippers, and tail discernible. The water is greenish-blue, appearing somewhat murky with numerous small, light-colored particles suspended throughout. Small, dark fish are visible in the background and foreground, moving independently. The bottom of the tank, dark and indistinct, is visible in the lower right quadrant. No human subjects or direct interactions between the manatees are observed.
