The image depicts the entrance gate of Vạn Hạnh Zen Monastery (Thiền Viện Vạn Hạnh) in Thành phố Đà Lạt, Vietnam, on a clear day under a partially cloudy blue sky. The gate is a traditional Vietnamese temple-style structure with a multi-tiered, terracotta-tiled roof featuring golden ornamental elements at the corners. Centered above the entrance is a dark wooden plaque with gold lettering, identifying the location as "THIEN VIEN VAN HANH ĐÀ LAT" and bearing the inscription "GIÁO HỘI PHẬT GIÁO VIỆT NAM" (Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam). Below this plaque, a white, elongated, decorative element hangs. Four large, spherical red lanterns with gold patterns are suspended from the gate's ceiling; two are visible on the left and two on the right. Additional smaller, reddish lanterns are visible deeper within the structure. A set of six brown/terracotta-tiled steps leads up into the gate. Both sides of these steps are lined with numerous potted plants containing vibrant yellow flowers, likely marigolds. Interspersed with these yellow flowers are larger potted plants displaying bright pink/magenta flowers, resembling bougainvillea. Directly at the top of the steps and centered within the gate is a large, dark, intricately carved wooden sculpture. It depicts a seated figure, possibly a Buddha or Bodhisattva, carved from a single piece of timber. In front of this sculpture, a golden urn or incense burner rests on a pedestal. Vertical wooden panels flanking the central pathway within the gate display Vietnamese characters in gold. Beyond the gate, green foliage and tall evergreen trees are visible. On the right side of the frame, past the gate's structure, two individuals are present. One person, wearing a red shirt, is seen from the back, facing towards the interior of the monastery. To their right, another individual wearing a blue and white patterned shirt and carrying a maroon backpack is also seen from the back, similarly positioned.
