This image, taken in Belchin, Bulgaria, depicts a stone-walled alcove or niche featuring a weathered wooden platform. The walls are constructed from irregular, multi-colored fieldstones (grays, browns, yellows, reds) set in light-colored mortar. Below the primary stone courses, a band of two horizontal rows of reddish-brown bricks is visible, also mortared into the wall. A rusty metal chain is affixed to the left wall via a metal ring embedded in the mortar. The chain extends diagonally across the top of the wooden platform. At its terminal end, two rusty, C-shaped metal shackles, resembling antique handcuffs or ankle cuffs, rest upon the wooden planks. The wooden platform itself is dark, aged, and composed of several planks, exhibiting visible grain and some surface debris. It is supported by a simple wooden frame, partially visible on the right.
