In Tinaquillo, Venezuela, six juvenile tortoises are situated on a damp, gravelly ground surface mixed with soil and scattered organic debris. The tortoises, each displaying a dark carapace with distinct yellow or orange polygonal scutes, are clustered around an irregular, shallow puddle of water centrally located in the frame. One tortoise is positioned superiorly, another inferolaterally to the left, partially submerged. Two additional tortoises are located on the right side of the puddle, one partially within the water. A fifth tortoise is positioned on the inferior left, and a sixth is centrally inferior. The surrounding ground is littered with dry leaves and small fragments of plant matter. No human subjects or artificial structures are present.
