The image displays an exhibition panel in what appears to be a museum or historical archive. Two black and white photographs are mounted alongside a large text block in Chinese. The primary subject is Ma Xiang (马骧, 1876-1922), a historical figure. The larger photograph at the bottom left shows a headshot of a young man, presumably Ma Xiang, dressed in a traditional Chinese long gown. The smaller, oval-shaped photograph at the top left depicts an older man in a military-style uniform or formal attire with a hat; a caption next to it identifies this as "Photograph gifted by Mr. Sun Yat-sen to Ma Xiang." The text on the photo itself, while visible, is not clearly legible. The main text block provides a biography of Ma Xiang. It states he was from Dali City, Yunnan, and was an early member of the Tongmenghui. He contributed significantly to the Xinhai Revolution, National Protection War, and Constitutional Protection Movement, being known as one of the "Three Heroes of Yunnan Revolution." In April 1914, he founded the progressive newspaper "Dian Sheng" (《滇声》) to promote revolutionary ideas. During the May Fourth Movement, "Dian Sheng" introduced Leninism and featured articles by early Communist Party members like Chen Duxiu, advocating for workers' rights. In the Constitutional Protection Movement, he advised Sun Yat-sen and held positions such as "Commander-in-Chief of Yunnan Civilian Army." In 1922, he organized the "Yunnan Self-Defense Army" to oppose Tang Jiyao but was betrayed and martyred in Kunming. Sun Yat-sen reportedly called him "a rare scholar among the Kuomintang." The panel indicates he was posthumously recognized as a martyr.
