A fragmented white marble bust, identified as a Head of a Man, is centrally displayed against a plain, light gray wall inside The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, United States. The sculpture depicts the head of a bearded male, with the cranium and a portion of the left facial profile missing. Visible features include deeply carved eyes with incised pupils, a prominent nose with minor damage, a full, curly beard, and similarly styled hair on the surviving right side of the head. The marble exhibits natural aging and surface wear. The bust is mounted on a slender metallic rod affixed to a dark, rectangular base. Soft, diffused lighting illuminates the scene from an elevated left position, casting a subtle, indistinct shadow of the artifact onto the wall to its right.
