A forensic examination of the scene in Walu, Kenya, reveals a water pumping operation situated on a steep, eroded riverbank
A forensic examination of the scene in Walu, Kenya, reveals a water pumping operation situated on a steep, eroded riverbank. The upper portion of the image displays a body of light brown, turbid water exhibiting minor surface ripples, indicative of a river or large stream. Extending from the lower left frame and curving into the muddy water is a large, black, flexible corrugated pipe, approximately 6-8 inches in diameter, appearing to function as an intake. A light-colored wooden stake is positioned near where the pipe enters the water. The riverbank itself consists of dark brown, loose, and crumbly soil, showing signs of erosion and containing scattered dry branches and plant debris. In the lower left quadrant, partially visible, is the base of a mechanical pump unit, characterized by a dark metal frame and visible orange components. Connected to this unit is a green corrugated hose, extending out of the frame to the lower left. To the right of the pump, a cut wooden stump or thick root is embedded in the soil, adjacent to a small depression in the bank. No individuals are present in the frame.
