The scene depicts an open excavation site, possibly a sand or clay quarry, located in Ufueseni, Nigeria. The central foreground and midground consist of a large, relatively flat, light brown and tan earthen pit with visible tire tracks or excavation marks. The pit is flanked on both sides by steep, multi-layered earth walls showing variations in color from light tan to reddish-brown, indicative of stratified geological material. Sparse, dry vegetation, including grasses and small shrubs, grows along the upper edges and crests of these earthen walls. Two individuals are present. One person, dressed in dark clothing, stands on a higher, flatter dirt path on the far left of the scene, facing towards the right. A second, less distinct figure is partially visible on the far right, near the top of the excavation wall, blending into the shadowed area beneath the vegetation. The sky above is overcast with a blanket of grey and white cumulus clouds, indicating diffused natural lighting conditions. A small pile of darker earth and rubble is located in the lower left portion of the pit, near the edge of the raised path.
