A highly ornate, gilded Gothic-style altarpiece or reliquary cabinet stands prominently on a dark marble plinth within a richly decorated interior. The main section of the altarpiece features a grid of numerous small, detailed arched niches, each containing a miniature figure or relic. Two side panels, or wings, are open, revealing four painted scenes on their interior surfaces. The upper left panel depicts a figure addressing a crowd from a podium. The lower left panel shows an interaction between two robed figures. The upper right panel portrays robed figures attending to an individual on the ground. The lower right panel displays a robed figure holding an object. The altarpiece is crowned with an intricate, openwork gilded finial and its base contains three visible, smaller ornate compartments, also holding figures. The altarpiece rests on a polished dark marble plinth with decorative marble columns. A green houseplant with long, variegated leaves is placed on the plinth to the right of the altarpiece, next to a small, angled informational sign in a dark frame. The surrounding walls are extensively decorated. The upper wall section features a dark blue background with a repeating pattern of small gold star-like motifs. The lower wall section is patterned with repeating square designs in beige and brown, outlined in gold. Vertical decorative bands in a complementary pattern border wall sections. The scene is illuminated, casting shadows primarily to the right side of the altarpiece.
