This image displays an exhibit description of the pike, a pole weapon from the 16th century. Used extensively by infantry, it was effective against both foot soldiers and cavalry. The pike saw regular use in European warfare until around 1700. Landsknecht and Swiss mercenary armies frequently utilized pikes, which formed square formations. The similar sarissa was also used by Alexander the Great's Macedonian phalanx infantry. The exhibit includes a description in Vietnamese.
