It explains that in 1946, 25 pairs of beavers were introduced to Tierra del Fuego for fur production, but the attempt failed. Without natural predators or competitors, and in a similar environment, the species successfully colonized the Fuegian ecosystem. Today, beavers occupy almost all basins of the Fuegian Archipelago in Argentina and Chile.
