A duck-like bird stands on damp, muddy ground with sparse patches of light green grass in Leskovets, Bulgaria. The bird is oriented with its back and right side largely facing the viewer, while its head is turned slightly to the left. Its head and upper neck are dark, appearing black. The body plumage is primarily mottled dark grey, exhibiting a fine, scaled feather pattern. A prominent reddish-brown patch is visible on its lower flank/wing, positioned above a smaller iridescent green patch and adjacent to a distinct streak of white feathers. The tail feathers are dark, appearing black. Its two grey, webbed feet are planted on the earthen surface. The ground itself is composed of compacted earth, displaying several indentations and scattered small pieces of dry foliage.
