The scene depicts two grey elephants within an outdoor enclosure at Diergaarde Blijdorp, Rotterdam, Netherlands. In the foreground, a grassy slope transitions to a dirt mound. Several piles of elephant dung are scattered on and below the mound. A thin wire fence spans horizontally across the middle ground. The primary elephant, a light grey individual, stands on the dirt mound, positioned left of center. It faces left with its head slightly lowered and its trunk extended towards the ground. Its large ears are prominent. Behind and to its right, the hindquarters and back of a second, smaller elephant are partially visible, facing away from the viewer. Both animals display wrinkled skin texture. The background features a brown building with a dark roofline, partially obscured by fencing. To the far right, a tall, light-colored metal structure with a grid pattern, possibly a gate or section of a holding pen, is visible.
