This image displays a placard about printing in the Western Xia Dynasty (1038-1227). The placard states that the Tangut people mainly controlled the political power. The discovery of documents at the Black Water City site in 1908 unveiled the mysteries of Western Xia printing. The Western Xia government had official paper-making workshops and engraving offices in Xingqing (now Yinchuan, Ningxia). The government specialized in paper-making, engraving, and printing books. Western Xia printed materials and remnants of woodblock carvings have been unearthed in Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, and Gansu in recent years. The image also shows a photo of Western Xia letter woodblock printing and Blackwater City Ruins.
