An exterior low-angle view depicts the Koules Fortress wall along the harbor in Heraklion Municipal Unit, Greece, under a mostly overcast sky. The massive stone fortress wall, constructed from large, light brown and tan irregular blocks, dominates the right side of the frame, rising to crenellated battlements at its crest. A small, arched opening is visible at the lower portion of the wall. In the midground, a dark asphalt paved pathway runs parallel to the fortress. Approximately ten to twelve individuals, mostly in pairs or small groups, are walking away from the viewer along this path. To the left, a light-colored concrete barrier separates the pathway from a rocky shoreline where dark rocks meet choppy sea water.
