An art exhibition in Irkutsk, Russia, displays a circular mixed-media painting titled "Grey Herons" (Серые цапли). The artwork, dated 2023 and created with oil, acrylic, and potal on canvas over fiberboard, presents a heavily textured, impasto depiction of a marshland scene. The background features a swirling, shimmering texture of yellow and silver, suggesting a stylized sky or light source. Five grey herons are visible: one stands on a bare, reddish-brown tree branch to the left, two are depicted in flight in the upper right quadrant, and two stand in the multi-colored, textured shallow water or marshland in the lower foreground. One of the foreground herons has its head lowered into the water, while the other stands upright behind it. Sparse trees or reeds with reddish branches and yellow accents emerge from the water along the left and bottom edges. The painting is suspended against a plain dark brown wall by two thin metal wires. A white informational plaque on the wall below the painting provides the title, year, and medium.
