This image depicts a narrow, cobblestone pedestrian street within the Medina of Essaouira, Morocco
This image depicts a narrow, cobblestone pedestrian street within the Medina of Essaouira, Morocco. The street is lined on both sides by multi-story buildings featuring predominantly white or off-white stucco facades, many showing signs of weathering. A clear, bright blue sky is visible overhead in the narrow gap between the structures. In the foreground, on the left, a black mountain bicycle leans against the wall, followed by a black scooter or moped largely covered by a black tarp. The left building wall has a lower section of exposed, darker masonry, an ornate arched window with a dark grille, a rectangular white utility box, and several glass block and regular windows. Black electrical wires are visible strung along this wall. Further down the street, a series of light-colored stone arches span the width of the alley, forming a covered passage. On the right side of the street, multiple large potted plants, primarily succulents resembling aloe or agave, are placed along the building's base. Several black rectangular signs hang perpendicularly from the right building, displaying text such as "La Table M'sada" and "Mirafada." An ornate, gold-colored street lamp with scrollwork is affixed to the upper portion of the right wall. Another black scooter or moped is parked near the potted plants on the right. In the distant background, beneath the arches, several indistinct human figures are visible, suggesting pedestrian activity. Sunlight appears to originate from the left, casting shadows on the right-hand structures.
