A large, weathered stone statue of a seated lion on a multi-tiered pedestal stands prominently in the center of the frame under a clear blue sky in Νέα Κερδύλια, Greece. The lion, facing forward, exhibits details of a mane and an open mouth, rendered in greyish-white stone with dark stains from age and exposure. Its pedestal is constructed from stacked, light-colored rectangular stone blocks, also showing significant weathering, dark streaking, and some yellowish lichen or moss, with stepped tiers at its top and bottom. The statue is surrounded by a natural environment. Numerous tall, dark green pine trees with visible trunks and needles densely populate the background and frame the statue on both sides. The ground in the immediate foreground consists of a patchy, dry lawn with varying shades of green and brown grass. To the right of the pedestal, a dirt path leads into the wooded area, alongside which a small, light-colored informational sign on a low stone base is partially visible. To the left and further into the background, denser green foliage and shrubs, some with small white blossoms, are present. Scattered rough-hewn stone blocks or low structural remnants are visible around the base of the pedestal. The scene is illuminated by bright, natural sunlight, indicating a clear day.
