The image depicts an upward-sloping, unpaved dirt and gravel pathway in a residential area of Madalla, Nigeria, under an overcast sky. The path is severely eroded, exposing bare earth and some concrete patches, and is heavily littered with various types of refuse. A visible channel of dark, possibly stagnant or flowing liquid, containing plastic bags, bottles, wrappers, and other debris, runs along the left side of the pathway. A large pile of brown, dry woody branches or roots lies in the foreground, adjacent to the refuse channel. On the left side of the path, a small structure made of corrugated metal sheets (blue, white, and brown) stands in the immediate foreground. Behind it is a larger, two-story building constructed of light-colored concrete blocks with a reddish-brown corrugated metal roof. Clothes are hanging on a line or railing on the upper level of this building, and concrete steps lead up to its entrance. A small child in orange clothing is seated on these steps.
