The image depicts a section of the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv, Ukraine, under a clear, bright blue sky with direct sunlight. The scene is devoid of human presence. In the foreground, a winding, paved path, possibly constructed from brick or stone, runs along the left edge. Adjacent to the path, a grave plot covered with green moss is prominent. To the right of this, a light grey granite headstone features a white rectangular plaque with Cyrillic text and an oval portrait embedded near the top. To its immediate left, a darker, possibly black, granite monument with an etched cross and another inscription plaque stands. Further to the right, a tall, weathered, light grey stone obelisk-like monument, marked with a carved cross near its apex, is visible. The midground and background are densely filled with a multitude of diverse gravestones, monuments, and crypts, extending uphill and receding into the distance. These structures vary in size, material, and state of preservation, with many exhibiting signs of weathering, moss, or ivy growth. Numerous trees dominate the upper and background portions of the image. Several large, deciduous trees are bare of leaves but heavily laden with large, parasitic clumps of green mistletoe attached to their branches. Evergreen trees are also interspersed throughout the cemetery. On a distant hill in the background, a tall, pale columnar monument topped with a statue is discernible amidst the tree line and other grave markers.
