On the right side of the frame, a male Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) is observed, identifiable by its iridescent green head, distinct white neck ring, brown chest, gray flanks, and yellow bill. Its reflection is visible beneath it in the water. To the left, a female Mallard, or possibly a juvenile, is partially visible from the chest up, displaying mottled brown plumage. Its head is oriented towards the male duck. Both subjects are static, floating on the water's surface, which shows signs of minor wave action and reflects ambient light, creating highlights.
