The model intricately depicts the basilica with its large central dome flanked by two smaller domes, a multi-columned classical facade, and a wide set of steps. The semicircular piazza is formed by two curved colonnades, each supported by numerous columns, leading towards the basilica. At the very center of the square stands a miniature obelisk, from which radial lines are etched into the base. Along the front bottom edge of the model, the raised text "ROMA S.
