The image displays the Matthias Fountain (Mátyás kútja) located in the Buda Castle complex, Budapest, Hungary. This large, multi-tiered bronze sculpture group is integrated into a monumental, light-colored stone facade.

The central and highest bronze figure is a male, identified as King Matthias Corvinus, standing erect in 15th-century hunting attire, including a feathered cap and an ornate tunic. He holds a long weapon, possibly a spear, in his right hand. Beneath his feet lies a fallen stag or deer.

Below and to the left of the central figure, another bronze male figure, a hunter, holds a hunting horn raised to his lips. Further down and to the left, a third bronze male figure, also in hunting attire, leans against a naturalistic stone formation, facing away from the viewer, appearing to interact with a dog.

On the lowest tier, three bronze hunting dogs are positioned. One dog has its head lowered, seemingly drinking from or sniffing a pool of water. Another stands behind it, facing forward, while a third is seated to the right, looking towards the right side of the frame.

Water actively cascades down the rough-hewn stone base of the fountain, creating visible splashes and a wet sheen on the bronze figures and stone. The sculptures are set within a grand arched recess in the stone facade, which is adorned with intricate relief carvings depicting trees and foliage. Tall, fluted classical columns flank the central arch, supporting an entablature partially visible at the top of the image. The entire scene is illuminated by strong natural sunlight from the right, casting distinct shadows and highlighting the textures of both the bronze and the weathered stone.
