A continuous row of vibrant green, ruffled lettuce (Lactuca sativa) occupies the left edge of the raised garden bed. To the left of the lettuce, on the ground, a small patch of dill (Anethum graveolens) and some small white flowers are visible amidst soil and wood chips. Within the raised garden bed, which is outlined by light-colored boards, the soil is covered with a layer of light brown straw or hay mulch. Several immature tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum) are cultivated here.
