The image depicts the ornate stone entrance of the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, located at Strada Fragata, 6, within the Old Town (Bari Vecchia) of Bari, Italy. The building facade is constructed from light-colored, irregular stone blocks. The central feature is a large, elaborate portal carved from white marble or limestone. It frames a tall, double wooden door with a rich reddish-brown finish, featuring multiple rectangular and arched panels. Each door leaf has a circular brass-colored handle near its center. Above the door, within the tympanum, a central relief sculpture portrays the enthroned Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child. To her left and right, two flanking figures, possibly angels or saints, are depicted in attitudes of prayer or reverence. Below these figures, three inscriptions are visible: "ARCICONFRATERNITA" on the left, "S. MARIA DEGLI ANGELI" in the center, and "ORA PRO NOBIS" on the right. Below these inscriptions, a frieze of roundels displays symbolic figures: a human face, a winged creature (possibly an eagle or griffin), the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) with a cross and banner, another winged creature (possibly a lion), and another human face.
