A cicada exuvia (molted shell), light brown in color, is observed clinging to a tree trunk in the city of Munyati, Zimbabwe. The exuvia is positioned vertically, head-up, in the center-right of the frame, displaying its hollow interior and a dorsal split from which the insect emerged. Multiple delicate legs are visible, extending outward from the shell. The tree trunk, serving as the background, is densely covered with vibrant green moss, exhibiting varied textures and shades of green. Interspersed among the moss are darker, exposed sections of tree bark. A few small, green plant shoots or leaves are visible growing from the moss immediately above the cicada exuvia. The scene is static, illuminated by ambient natural light. No individuals or active subjects are present.
