DamascusSyria

The image displays an upward-angled view of a severely deteriorated upper facade of a multi-story building in Damascus, Syria. The structure is predominantly wooden, featuring ornate arched openings, carved pilasters, and a projecting upper floor or balcony. Significant structural damage is evident along the roofline and cornice, where wooden beams are exposed and decorative elements are fractured. Two prominent arched windows are visible. The left-central window contains multiple glass panes, most of which are intact but appear opaque or dirty, set within a distressed wooden frame. The right window is fitted with wooden louvered shutters, many of which are broken, askew, or missing slats. Below the windows, sections of white plaster are extensively cracked and missing, exposing underlying mud brick or rough masonry and debris. A prominent, spiraled wooden column or pilaster is observed supporting an arch on the far left. Within an opening behind this column, a light-colored fabric or canvas is draped. The wooden planks forming the underside of the projecting structure below the windows exhibit weathering. The background features a clear blue sky with thin utility wires stretching across the upper left quadrant. No individuals or animals are present in the scene.
