The scene captures a large Staghorn Fern (Platycerium species) mounted on a rough, light grey-brown textured wall in Gotha, Germany. The fern is characterized by multiple prominent, glossy, dark green fertile fronds, which are deeply lobed and extend downwards, appearing somewhat wet or reflective. Above these, wider, lighter green basal fronds are present, serving as a support structure. Further up, behind the green foliage, a mass of dried, reddish-brown, structural fronds or organic material is visible, forming the upper part of the plant's attachment to the wall. Partially obscured by the lower section of the fern's green fronds, a white, circular metal fan guard (grille) is affixed to the wall. No fan blades are discernible. Faint remnants of additional green and brown organic matter are present on the wall to the lower right of the primary plant. No individuals are depicted.
