A white marble sculpture is depicted within an ornate arched niche. The central composition features a rearing horse, a female nereid, and marine creatures. The horse, facing slightly right, is elevated on its hind legs with its front left leg raised and its right front leg positioned near the nereid. Beneath the horse, a bare-chested nereid with a scaled, fish-like lower body extends her left arm upwards towards the horse's head, while her right arm rests on her tail. An octopus with prominent tentacles is sculpted on the lower left, integrated with rough-hewn rock formations that simulate a water environment. Swirling wave patterns are carved into the lower base. The light-colored stone arch framing the sculpture features a fluted, shell-like inner surface and an outer archivolt adorned with intricate foliage relief. This sculpture represents one of the four Nereids situated at the corners of the Fountain of Neptune (Fontana di Nettuno) in Piazza del Nettuno, Bologna, Italy.
