The image depicts a low-angle view of an aged brick and stone building facade, identified as the House of Christopher Columbus in Genoa, Italy. The structure features exposed reddish-brown bricks, grey hewn stone blocks, and areas of worn plaster, exhibiting significant weathering and some moss growth. Centered on the upper portion of the facade is a large, ornate white marble plaque. This plaque features relief carvings at its apex, depicting two rearing animals, possibly lions or griffins, flanking a central shield or crest. Below the carvings, a Latin inscription is etched, reading "NULLA DOMUS HEIC TITULO DIGNIOR / PATERNA IN AEDIBUS / CHRISTOPHORUS COLUMBUS / PRIMAMQUE JUVENTAM TRANSEGIT," which translates to "No house more worthy of a title / (than) the paternal house in which / Christopher Columbus / passed his first youth." Below the plaque, two rectangular windows with dark frames are visible. The window panes reflect a cloudy sky and parts of the surrounding urban environment. Between and to the sides of the windows, the brick and stone masonry is interspersed with decorative, carved stone corbels or capitals. Two flags hang vertically from poles affixed to the wall below the window sill. On the left, an Italian national flag (green, white, and red vertical stripes) is attached to a dark green pole. On the right, a Genoese flag (a white field with a red cross, commonly known as St. George's Cross) is attached to a dark-colored pole. Above the building's roofline, barren tree branches and sparse vegetation are visible against a partly cloudy sky. No individuals are present in the scene.
