A vervet monkey (Chlorocebus pygerythrus), characterized by its black face, white brows, and grayish-brown fur, is observed sitting on a substantial, dark-barked tree branch in Zaki Biyem, Nigeria. The monkey is tethered; a dark, knotted rope is visibly secured around the base of its tail and extends around another section of the tree. Its body is angled slightly to the left, with its head turned to face directly forward, making eye contact with the viewer. Its left hand rests flat on the branch, while its right hand is partially lifted. White, shredded fibrous material, possibly from old rope or fabric, is intertwined around the tree branches beneath the monkey. The tree bark exhibits patches where it appears damaged or removed. The background features green foliage and a bright blue sky with faint clouds above. To the right and rear of the monkey, an unkempt ground area is visible with reddish-brown soil and scattered refuse, including various plastic bags and discarded items, bordering a denser area of green vegetation.
