The image displays a low-angle interior view of the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Beauvais in Beauvais, France, looking upwards into its high Gothic choir. Massive, light-colored stone piers rise from the lower left, supporting an intricate system of ribbed vaulting that extends across the ceiling. The vaults are constructed of stone, some sections appearing plain, while others on the right exhibit faded grey and gold decorative stenciling. Numerous stained-glass windows are visible; tall, narrow lancet windows filled with vibrant blue, red, and purple glass are prominent on the left and in the middle distance. Additional stained-glass windows, including some with circular tracery, are present on the right, casting colored light reflections onto the adjacent stone surfaces. A section of ornate, gilded metalwork, possibly part of a choir screen or railing, is partially visible in the lower left foreground. The scene is devoid of people or discernible activity.
