A small, approximately 5-7 cm long, grey, hairless mammalian neonate, consistent with a rodent pup, is centrally positioned on a heavily rusted and textured dark brown metal utility cover. The neonate exhibits closed eyes, undeveloped ears, and visible digits on its splayed limbs, indicative of a very early developmental stage. Its body posture is prone and still. The metal cover displays pronounced raised patterns, significant corrosion, and adhering particulate matter. Immediately behind the metal cover is a reddish-brown, weathered concrete or brick-like structure. The background shows out-of-focus green foliage, likely grass, illuminated by direct sunlight which casts a distinct shadow of the neonate to its left. The scene is located in Lumakanda ward, Kenya.
