An adult male stands within a large, rectangular excavation pit in Kaduna, Nigeria. The pit, approximately 3-4 meters deep, has uneven, reddish-brown earth walls, with visible layers of soil and some sections appearing darker due to moisture or soil composition. At the deepest point of the pit, a collection of dark, still water is visible. The man, of African descent, wears a dark, soiled t-shirt and light-colored shorts. His bare feet are submerged in mud or standing in a wet area at the bottom of the pit. He holds a long-handled, mud-caked digging shovel with both hands, positioned across his body. His head is turned to the right, looking upwards and away from the center of the pit. Around the edges of the excavation, piles of freshly dug soil and several large, broken concrete or stone slabs are scattered. Sparse green vegetation grows on undisturbed ground near the pit's rim.
